Protocol note

This 90-second sequence is a PointWell self-care format. The exact combination of BL2 massage and a 20-second distance gaze has not been directly tested as a complete clinical protocol.

Exact protocol: not validated. 90 seconds; learning, safety and check-in are outside the timer.

  1. Screen pause - 10 seconds

Put the screen down or look away from it. Let your face soften.

  2. Bilateral circular pressure - 60 seconds

Rest one fingertip on each inner brow-bone hollow. Use light, comfortable small circles. Stay on the brow bone and keep all pressure away from the eyes.

  3. Distance gaze break - 20 seconds

Look at something around 20 feet (6 meters) away if practical, and let yourself blink naturally.

Before you begin

PointWell offers general self-care and educational guidance and is not a substitute for diagnosis, treatment, or emergency medical care.

Mild, familiar head, brow, or screen-related tension.

Seek urgent medical care for a sudden severe headache, a headache after head injury, or headache with confusion, fainting, seizures, weakness, numbness, trouble speaking, stiff neck with fever, double vision, or major vision changes.

Choose eye care for sudden vision loss or change, new double vision, severe eye pain, eye injury, new flashes or many floaters, or concerning halos.

Stay on the brow bone. Use light, comfortable contact only. Never press the eyeball, eyelid, or push inward into the eye socket.

Stay at the surface of the soft hollow below the skull. Do not dig deeply under the skull or into the neck.

Traditional Use

BL2 (Cuanzhu) and GB20 (Fengchi) have long been used in East Asian medicine in head, eye-region, and neck-related contexts. Traditional use is not proof of modern efficacy.

Modern Evidence

Manual acupressure and self-massage have been studied for head and neck discomfort, but evidence is limited and often involves multi-point programs. Screen-break evidence belongs to the behavioral component, not BL2 efficacy. BL2 independent effects on vision, dry eye, or eye disease are not established.

Evidence Labels

Limited / indirect manual evidence

Limited / supportive self-care evidence

Established supportive behavior; separate from acupressure

Protocol Note

This 90-second sequence is a PointWell self-care format. The exact combination of BL2 massage and a 20-second distance gaze has not been directly tested as a complete clinical protocol.

BL2 appears in published multi-point eye self-massage protocols, but these do not establish an independent BL2 effect. The distance-gaze component is separate screen-break guidance.

What this routine is — and isn’t

PointWell uses these techniques for everyday comfort and short screen breaks. It does not diagnose or treat migraine, chronic headache, dry eye, glaucoma, myopia, or other eye conditions.

Check-in

How do your eyes and brow area feel right now?

Immediate self-report only; not a clinical outcome, treatment response, or efficacy measure.

Completion

Give your eyes another moment before returning to the screen. If eye discomfort or head symptoms are persistent, worsening, or affecting daily activities, consider professional evaluation.
